DISTINCTIVE, WELL-EDITED, LUXURY ART AND DESIGN MARKET
In many respects, Vista Art & Design was born from my personal desire to find a sophisticated online marketplace to acquire and research quality design objects and art. I needed a site where access to these items and information was uncomplicated. I also wanted this platform to have a distinctive, well-edited voice that appealed to my interest in the luxury art and design market. As I spoke with other collectors and connoisseurs of fine art and design, I found that I wasn't the only one in search of such a service, hence my motivation to create Vista. In my mind, people who care enough to go online and source an Arne Jacobsen chair, a painting by Cecily Brown, or research some of the latest trends in design and art, are like-minded people and need to be brought together within this community. So I've taken my twenty years of experience in the design community, ranging from fashion, to product and interior design, and created Vista, bringing in a team of professionals with backgrounds in decorative arts, fine arts, web design, marketing, and business . I have also listened to the words and advice of friends in the design and fine art community — particularly dealers and gallery owners who have been reluctant to showcase their inventory online. They have all encouraged me to start modestly and grow slowly in order to keep a close eye on the quality of Vista's offerings and stay true to the vision of the site.
In taking their advice, I have decided to build Vista Art & Design in stages and focus mainly, but not exclusively, on my interest in 20th and 21st Century design and fine art. Stage one, has been the cultivation of dealers and gallery owners of design and decorative arts who relate to the Vista vision. Stage two will focus on fine art and stage three will be announced in the spring of 2008. Each launch group will be decidedly small and hand picked to ensure that Vista will remain a campus of elite professionals with carefully vetted dealers and resources. That said, Vista Art & Design will be more than a roster of high-end design, fine art and related listings. It's a site that will let you explore the latest news in the industry as well as discover emerging design and fine art talent from all corners of the world. You can read what leading designers, dealers and artists have to say about their work, as well as take in our vision of trends setting the pace for the future. I like to think of Vista ultimately as an art and design salon — a club of sorts where like-minded people and collectors can gather to help refine their taste and stimulate their interest in art and design.
Sincerely,
Victor Alfaro
